Youth Justice Worker Job Description

The goal of the Garda Youth Diversion Project is to prevent young people who are at risk of becoming involved in (or further involved in) criminal behaviour from continuing in this manner. It will also prevent, where possible, young people coming to the attention of the criminal justice system.

The successful candidates will be responsible for the provision of community based youth initiatives appropriate to the needs of young people in Curragh/Newbridge. They will be committed to Youthwork practice and principals, juvenile crime prevention and social inclusion practice.

The responsibilities include:

Ú Supporting the engagement and positive personal development of participants referred to the     Project through one to one support and group work

Ú Planning, delivery and evaluation of the Garda Youth Diversion Project programme

Ú Maintaining effective working relationship with the Project Steering Committee and other             referral agents / service providers

Ú Reporting on progress, outcomes and impacts of Project Programme to KYS, An Garda Siochana and Irish Youth Service

Relevant third-level qualification and at least 2 years experience required

Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications
