The Aim of the Pathways Project North West Kildare is to work with identified target groups aged between 14 and 19 years in North West Kildare through one to one support and group work towards assisting their personal and social development with a focus on their current and future educational needs.

Pathways Project North West Kildare works with young people who have left school early (primary target group) or with those who are at high risk of leaving school early (secondary target group). Pathways Project engages with these individuals on a 1:1 or group work basis, depending on the needs of the individuals. The young people are supported towards availing of services both within KYS and other community services, developing their social and personal development and increasing their employability and training opportunities. Young people participate in the project on a voluntary basis.

What the project does:

One to one support: The service that Pathways provides looks at helping young people to make informed choices about their future, this may also include referring young people on to other agencies for other supports at different stages.

Group Progression Programmes: this provides a different and complimentary approach to progression along with one to one support, secondly it provides a group work intervention that provides encouragement, support, and creative opportunities for young people to develop skills and knowledge and to participate in a structured environment. The overall aims and objectives are based on the young people’s personal and social development.

Some of the programmes we have done with young people include: Drug and Alcohol Awareness, Mental Health, FETAC Level 3 in Media Expression, Outdoor Activities.

Comhairle na nOg : giving young people in North West Kildare a voice.
